My FAVORITE time of year is here, autumn. Few things make me happier than going outside in the morning with that fresh, clean, crisp air. The leaves are starting to change here in Colorado, the mornings and nights are cooler and I am itching to wear my fall wardrobe.
In honor of the upcoming first snow storm, I thought I would share how I switch up my summer beauty routine for the cooler weather. I don’t make drastic changes, just small tweaks to keep my skin hydrated and my makeup looking good in the cooler temps. Here are five things I add to transition my routing from hot summer months to cooler, autumnal days.
Skin: My skin is dry most of the year, but it tends to be even drier in the cooler air. This time of year I will change out my moisturizer during the day for something a bit richer. My favorite right now (and maybe ever!) is the Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream. This is so hydrating, non-irritating and keeps my skin looking great under makeup during the day. For night time, I always add back in a facial oil to my skincare routine and I have several that I love. The Clarins Lotus Face Treatment Oil is great for hydration and if you suffer from the occasional breakout. It has chamomile in it which I find really soothes irritated skin. I have also used the NUDE ProGenius Rescue Oil. I find this to be lighter but still moisturizing and I like that this a natural skin care line. My favorite oil of all time is the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate. I find this provides the most moisture and has wonderful antiaging properties. It also improves my fine lines and the texture of my skin.
Body: In addition to my face being drier in the autumn and winter, my body suffers the same fate. As the weather transitions, I add some richer products into my routine to keep my arms and legs hydrated. Two things I add into my routine are body scrubs and shower oils. In the summer I typically exfoliate once a week or so, in the winter I do the same but I add a pump of shower oil to the body scrub to help rehydrate as I exfoliate. My favorite body scrub is the Herbivore Coco Rose Coconut Oil Body Scrub. This has the perfect amount of grit without being too
harsh and it is all natural. I love to add a pump of the L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil. I love the smell and how my skin feels after. Definitely a staple for me come this time of year.
Lips: The last addition to my routine this fall is a lip scrub to keep my lips hydrated and exfoliated. The best lip scrub ever is the fresh Sugar Lip Polish. This gets rid of chapped lips, leaves a nice hydrating feel after and has a sweet taste. I find this keeps my lips in good shape all year long and keeps my lips looking good when wearing lipstick.
How do you switch up your routine this time of year? I hope you found something new to try!
