Best Buys of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

If you follow any bloggers, you have probably been inundated with all things Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.  Even I am getting a little tired of it but I wanted to share the best things I purchased, plus a few I think I will return.  I typically buy more during the sale since so many items sell out and then decide on what to keep.  This year the focus was shoes and sweaters.  I found some amazing pieces.  Tomorrow the NSale opens up to everyone and Nordstrom typically does a restock of items.  Not everything will be back in stock but a few of my favorites are actually still online in several sizes.

Let’s start with sweaters.  I felt like I saw these sweaters on everyone’s feed. Unfortunately they are sold out right now, but they may restock tomorrow.  If they do, I highly recommend scoping them up.  They run a bit oversized so I’d recommend your true size or sizing down.  I grabbed two colors, the rose color below and a pretty burnt orange color called Heather Mustard, in my normal medium size.  This is one of the softest sweaters I own. It’s adorable with jeans and booties for fall or to wear now on cooler nights with denim shorts.

This year there were so many amazing cardigans, and I am here for it.  There were amazing options, in every color, long, short, fitted, slouchy.  I am still contemplating one of the cashmere options but so far, I purchased three cardigans and love all of them.  First is the Leith Ribbed Cocoon Sweater.  This has been in the sale the last two years but the design has changed slightly each year.  Last year I bought a grey version that had pockets and to be honest I don’t love it.  It had a weird fit and was not my favorite purchase.  This year’s version is amazing! It’s lightweight and has the cutest ribbed detail.  This was a definite winner for me and there are still lots of colors and sizes left.  Second cardigan was slightly longer, thinner and fitted through the arms.  The Halogen Open Front Cardigan is perfect! I find this to be slightly dressier and would wear on a casual day to work.  I bought mine in black and love the fitted sleeves and the fact that it has pockets.  This is also in stock!  Finally, the last cardigan may be my favorite and I can’t believe it is still in stock! The Chelsea28 Oversize Open Cardigan is gorgeous, great quality and I cannot wait for cooler weather so that I can start wearing this. I bought the Olive Sarma color which is a beautiful army green.  I love the oversized fit and love it with denim, a plain tee and the sleeves rolled up.  Buy, Buy, Buy!

Next amazing purchase was in the denim department.  I am loyal to my Madewell 9″ high-rise skinny jeans but I hear every year how amazing AG jeans are.  This is the perfect time to buy because they are majorly discounted.  So this year, I bought my first pair of “designer” jeans and I gotta say, they are pretty amazing. I still love my Madewell’s but I am so happy to add these to my wardrobe.  I scooped up the AG The Farrah Ankle Skinny Jean.  They fit true to size for me but the reviews say order one size up if in between sizes.  They have a mid rise, a great wash, and no distressing.

Finally shoes!  I loved the selection of flats, mules, and boots this year.  I have three favorites from my purchases and the first is the most beautiful pair of mules.  I love the Treasure & Bond line and these Hayden Studded Mules go with everything! They are a great transition shoe from summer to fall.  I have a pair of tan, suede mules that I adore and love that this pair is leather.  I sized up half a size, I am typically an 8.5 but I found these to run a little short.  Next shoes are ones I thought I would return but I actually love them.  Definitely a casual shoe, great for winter and wet weather.  The Ugg Pax Waterproof Wedge Boot is so comfortable.  They are little hard to pull on and off but they are so comfortable.  They are perfect with cuffed jeans, sweater, cardigans, or a plaid button down shirt.  Last pair of shoes I put in my previous Nordstrom post.  They are the Lucky Brand Yabba Wedge Bootie.  I need a new pair of black boots and these are perfect.  Very comfortable with the wedge and I love the cutout detail on the side.  I’d size up half a size in these as well.

Those are my favorite buys of this years’ sale.  So many amazing items for fall and winter.  There were two items I bought that I am going to return.  One being a beautiful coat as I was definitely looking for a dressier winter coat.  The Badgley Mischka Double Face Wool Blend was beautiful but didn’t fit quite right.  I also didn’t love the fact that it wasn’t lined.  Even though it is discounted, I felt the lack of lining made the coat feel cheap.  Sadly, this will be returned.  The other item that is going back are a pair of plain black, pointed flats. I really wanted to find a pair of flats that I could wear for work and travel.  The are gorgeous and great quality, however they are just too long.  The pointy toe is sooo pointy and it makes my feet look funny.

I hope you found some beautiful pieces from the NSale and that you are getting excited for cooler weather.  I’d love to know your favorite purchase of the sale!
