Review: Morphe X Jaclyn Hill Eyeshadow Palette

I was lucky enough to get one of these gorgeous eyeshadow palettes when they first went on sale June 21st. I have had the chance to play with a lot of the colors and create some looks I really love.  Jaclyn does a full overview of that palette including color swatches on her youtube channel, here.  This palette has become my go to palette for everyday as well as a night out look.

Let’s start with the colors; one word – STUNNING.  Every color in the collection is so beautiful.  It stays true to Jaclyn’s style with a lot of warm brown shades.  Lucky for me, that is exactly what I gravitate to when picking shadow colors.  There is a great mix of highlight shadows, tons of transition colors to blend through the crease, and some amazing dark, smoky shadows that I love to throw all over the lid, blend out and have a beautiful smoky eye.

My favorites thus far are Creamsicle, Butter, Pukey, Hunts, Roxanne, and Meeks.  Since I work in an office I keep the look pretty minimal during the day. I put Pukey through my crease and add a bit of Roxanne to darken up the edges.  For a darker look I love putting Meeks all over the lid and then blend out with Hunts and Creamsicle.  I really think that regardless of eye color or skin tone, there is something for everyone in this palette.

Now let’s talk texture.  These are some of the most blendable, creamy shadows I have ever used.  Jaclyn said that she worked on this palette for 2 years perfecting not only the color but also the texture.  I prefer matte shades during the day and find that matte’s are the hardest to do.  Often times they are patchy and don’t blend, that is not the case for the matte shadows in this palette.  As you can see from the swatches, these shadows are so pigmented and creamy.  I haven’t had any concerns with the colors I’ve used so far.

Not only are the mattes in this palette gorgeous but all of the shimmer and foiled shadows have amazing payoff and very little fall out.  The foiled shadows are amazing by themselves but you can amp up the color if you spray a little MAC FIX+ to your brush. I find the best way to apply the shimmery colors is with a flat shader brush like the MAC 242.  This gives me the best color and the shadows don’t fall down onto my cheeks.

All in all I can’t recommend this palette enough.  Jaclyn has a huge following, an amazing eye for makeup, and has created something beautiful.  This palette sold out in less than 45 minutes when it first went on sale.  Luckily, this is being restocked on morphebrushes.com.  This palette will be available again on Tuesday July 18th at 8AM PST.  I would totally recommend you add this to your collection.  These shadows are for the everyday makeup wearer and the pro artist.  Well done Jaclyn Hill!
