Skincare: evening

It has been a hot minute since I’ve posted anything on the blog. Needless to say the new year has started off very busy with work and wedding planning!! Today I want to share all about my current skincare routine! I’ve added a few new products to my collection and feel like I have really found a good group of things that my skin is loving! I have combination skin and tend to get an occasional breakout. I have very sensitive skin and deal with Perioral Dermatitis. I look for effective but gentle products that won’t make the dermatitis worse! Have a read below to see my current routine!

Cleansing: I am a big fan of the double cleanse. I find that no face wash, no matter what the lable says actually gets off all that eye makeup, mascara and foundation. So, my first step is the Garnier Micellar Water. I soak a cotton round in this an apply to my eyes for a few seconds. After I’ve let it soak I gently rub to get all my eye makeup off. I’ll use a second round to clean the rest of my face as my first cleanse. For my second cleanse, I’ve been using a new product that I absolutely love! I recently purchased the Tula Purifying Cleanser – this stuff is wonderful! You get a ton of product, it is gentle on my sensitive skin, and leaves my skin feeling super clean!

Toner: In the evenings, my next step is to spritz the Murad Hydrating Toner. This smells great, refreshes skin and gives me an extra shot of moisture. I really like this before applying any other products as I feel like it helps keep the moisture in my skin and gives me one extra step to purify my face.

Eye Cream: I apply my eye cream before any other treatment or moisturizers so that it can protect the sensitive skin around my eyes as product tends to move around. I have been a long time fan of the Drunk Elephant C-tango Multivitamin Eye Cream. This hydrates and helps with my dark circles. To apply, I tap this under my eyes and around my orbital bone. I actually use this both day and night and feel like the products lasts a long time.

Moisturizer: My everyday treatment and moisturizer are both Drunk Elephant products that I mix together. I start with one pump of the T.L.C. Framboos Glycol Night Serum. This has been in my routine for a long time and I find this helps my skin with texture, breakouts and dullness. To the serum, I add 2-3 drops of the DE Virgin Marula Facial Oil. This is so hydrating, smells great and is perfect for my super sensitive skin. I rub these two together and then apply all over my face (avoiding the eye area). I gently press this into my skin until I feel it is absorbed.

Treatment: I have finally taken the plunge and added a retinol to my skincare routine. I have always been reluctant to add retinol because of my sensitive skin and my worry that it would cause more irritation. However, there are so many benefits to retinol- it really is the best thing to help with the effects of aging. I just started using the Drunk Elephant A-Passioni Retinol Cream and have to say I think I am going to like it. I’ve only used twice as I am following directions to only use once per week to start to help prevent the irritating effects. I use a pea-sized amount mixed with the Marula oil and press into my skin. I will report back after a few more weeks of use on how I am liking it!

And there you go! My evening skincare routine. I always tell people my second favorite thing of the day is putting on my makeup, but my favorite thing is taking it all off at night. I am definitely committed to my skincare routine and really like the products I am currently using.

I also have a few favorite skincare masks that I rotate through as well. I shared a post all about my top 5 masks here! Let me know some of your best skincare products below!
